[We start the new year with a different kind of inspirational business story. Meet Svetlana, a beauty consultant who has written a book designed to help women get through "troublesome life situations." In a business context, most of us speak from the head. Below, and particularly in her guest blog post, we see an entrepreneur speaking from the heart. ]
AB: "Women who are going through a difficult patch in life" is a tricky target to reach. What’s worked the best for you in 2007?
SB: I am working in industry where I meet such women every day — they simply come to buy lipstick and share their stories of being lost. And we talk here not only about abusive relationships, but also problems with children, divorce nightmare, menopause discomforts etc.
AB: Running a small business for the first time means lots of new challenges. What part of entrepreneurship you have worked hardest on?
SB: Each step of my business story was rather challenging, maybe because I was not sure what I was really doing and where I was heading. Now I feel much more confident, as many things became clear and well-known (like the process of putting the book together). But probably to find the way to make the books work as tools to build fully beneficial activity (for me and others) was and still is my main concern. Though little by little it comes to me.
AB: What would you do if you weren’t in business for yourself?
I can see it as the only option for myself (at least for now), as it’s the only activity which brings joy, sense of fulfillment and meaning into my life. It looks like I discovered the secret of happiness and joy through my creativity and business activity and it gives me pleasure to share it with others.
